About Me

About Me

Hi, I’m Mohit Malpani.

I am a software enthusiast at heart and an engineer by profession. I completed my Bachelor’s in Information Science and Engineering from PES University, Bengaluru. Today, I work as a Software Development Manager, helping teams build products that are reliable, scalable, and loved by millions of users.

My Journey

My software journey started with building websites for different use cases. As my curiosity grew, I moved into Android development and eventually began building large-scale consumer applications.

Over the past 10+ years, I’ve worked with GE Capital and Tesco Technology, contributing to products across the UK, Central Europe, and Asia. During this time, I’ve helped build applications with more than 10 million downloads and solved engineering problems that directly improve customer experience.

Although my career began with Java, Kotlin, and Android, I gradually expanded into JavaScript, backend development, cloud technologies, and software architecture. Today, I enjoy understanding how complete systems are designed, built, and scaled.

What I Enjoy Building

I enjoy solving difficult engineering problems.

Some days that means investigating production issues or improving application performance. On other days, it involves simplifying complex architectures, modernizing legacy code, or helping teams deliver software faster.

I enjoy asking why something behaves the way it does before deciding how to improve it. That mindset has helped me reduce application load times, improve app stability, modernize engineering practices, and contribute to better product decisions through technical discovery.

For me, great engineering is about more than writing code. It’s about building systems that are simple to maintain, easy to scale, and enjoyable for both customers and developers.

Beyond Mobile Development

While Android development laid the foundation for my career, my interests now extend much further.

I’m passionate about:

  • Engineering Leadership
  • Software Architecture
  • Distributed Systems
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Developer Experience
  • Product Strategy
  • Building products that solve real-world problems

I particularly enjoy working where technology, product thinking, and business goals come together.

Mentoring and Leadership

One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping engineers grow.

I enjoy mentoring developers, encouraging ownership, and creating environments where teams can do their best work. Watching people gain confidence, solve challenging problems, and succeed together is just as satisfying as delivering great software.

I believe strong engineering teams are built through trust, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Why This Website Exists

Technology evolves every day, and I’m always learning something new.

This website is where I document that journey.

Here, you’ll find articles on software engineering, system design, Android development, backend architecture, artificial intelligence, engineering leadership, productivity, and lessons I’ve learned while building software at scale.

My goal is simple: share practical knowledge that helps other engineers build better software and grow in their careers.

Let’s Connect

Whether you’re an engineer, a product builder, a recruiter, or simply someone who enjoys discussing technology, I’d love to connect.

If something on this website resonates with you, feel free to reach out or start a conversation. I’m always happy to exchange ideas and learn from others.
